Gresford Athletic have completed the signing of Alex Smith from Mold Alexandra.
The defender joins as the First Team's seventh new signing of the 2024/25 summer transfer window.
Smith first played his football in England for Upton AA before making the move into Welsh football with Mold Alexandra in the summer of 2021.
He has been at The Alex ever since, becoming a dependable member of the squad and a crucial part of their successes over the last four seasons.
The 29-year-old made 35 appearances in all competitions during the 2023/24 season, helping Mold Alexandra finish in fourth place of the JD Cymru North and win two trophies, including scoring his only goal of the season to open the scoring against Llandudno in the Northern section of the Welsh Blood Service League Cup.
To top off an excellent campaign, Smith was also named the 2023/24 Mold Alexandra Managers' Player of the Season.
He signs for Gresford Athletic and looks to be a fantastic option on the right side of the defence.
Gresford Athletic First Team Manager Eddie Maurice-Jones believes that Smith brings plenty of qualities that suit the ideas:
"Alex is an excellent signing and has already demonstrated his potential.
"His football awareness and capabilities align perfectly with our playing style.
"He's technically sound on the ball, intelligent and has a brilliant passing range."
Gresford Athletic First Team Assistant Manager Jonathan Hill-Dunt also says that Smith was very impressive for Mold Alexandra in the previous campaign:
"Alex really impressed last season with his style of play.
"He's trained with us for a week or so and he has already shown that he will be a great addition to the squad, coming off the back of a successful season with a winning mentality."
