The game began with Gresford Athletic dominating posession from the off, almost securing the opener in the seventh minute through Paul Johnson's header from a Charlie Mann corner, but the ball went wide of the post.

However, it was an early lead for The Colliers, as Ilan ap Gareth scored his first goal of the season with a nice finish to make the score 1-0 within nine minutes.

Prestatyn Town fought back, though, and in the 14th minute, Lewis Dutton was forced to make a good save from a long-range effort from The Seasiders.

Somehow, Gresford Athletic were unable to secure a second goal in the 15th minute, as Dominic Deacon did brilliantly to fire the ball into the box, reaching Dave Forbes and then Ilan ap Gareth, whose efforts were both kept out by Robbie Williams in the Prestatyn Town goal with an excellent double save.

Charley Edge put in a great corner in the 37th minute, almost finding the back of the net, but former Gresford Athletic goalkeeper Robbie Williams made another good save.

In the 38th minute, James Smith played an excellent ball through the Prestatyn Town defence, finding Charlie Mann, but the winger's effort went over the crossbar.

The score was 1-0 at the break, with Gresford Athletic having the majority of the possession and could have had more goals if they put away their chances.

The second half got underway and it was not long before The Colliers continued to look for a second goal, with Dominic Deacon running through on goal and firing a good effort on goal, only to be denied by an equally good save from Prestatyn Town's Robbie Williams in the 57th minute.

Then, in the 62nd minute, Gresford Athletic did find their second goal of the time, as Dave Forbes took the ball well in the box from a Josh Watkin cross, turned to face goal and slotted it home to make it 2-0.

Things went from bad to worse for The Seasiders when Paddy Hamid saw red and was sent off in the 68th minute, leaving Prestatyn Town down to 10 men.

There was some superb passing football on display between Toby Gallagher-Keenan, Charley Edge, Joe Ormrod and Simon Smith in the box, but nobody was able to find a way through to add to the scoreline in the 77th minute.

In the 78th minute, Dave Forbes almost found his second goal of the game, but his effort was blasted just over the crossbar.

Gresford Athletic saw out the last 10 minutes or so of the game until the final whistle blew, with them managing to secure a critical three points with a good away victory.
