Gresford Athletic have today completed the resigning of Max Peate from Rhyl.
Like Gresford Athletic's last signing, Sam Molyneux, the defender has also previously played for the club before signing for Rhyl.
He started his career at Gresford Athletic in the club's academy. In 2009, he joined then-Welsh Premier League club Welshpool Town, before signing for Cefn Druids and then later Denbigh Town.
The 31-year-old then returned to Gresford Athletic in the 2015/16 season, this time as a first team player, and had a huge impact on and off the pitch. He was key to the club's survival in the Huws Gray Alliance and helped to progress the club to cement themselves as a mainstay in the second tier of Welsh football. Being a natural leader, Max was made Gresford Athletic first team captain during this time.
He then signed for Rhyl in the summer of 2018, where again he was made first team captain. He had a fantastic couple of seasons at the club, proving to be a key member of their squad. He left the club after they dissolved at the end of the 2019/20 season and returns to Gresford Athletic, reuniting with first team manager Eddie Maurice-Jones, who he previously played under at Gresford Athletic and Rhyl.
This is the club's fourth signing of the day ahead of the 2020/21 season and is a great addtion to a squad that is already looking very competitive within the team, as well as for the 2020/21 JD Cymru North.
Welcome back to the club, Max!
